Sometimes, we might start feeling unwell. We do not understand the reason behind it. When we see the doctor, s/he might ask for a full-body blood test. And, this lab test might come up with the term ‘uric acid’. You might not be aware of the fact how the level of acid can invite different health problems in your body.

What is Uric Acid?

Uric Acid is nothing but the final product of the purine degeneration in our body. Purines are formed as the end product of the digestion of DNA and certain proteins in the diet.

Depending upon the chemical condition, uric acid acts as the antioxidant or as the pro-oxidant. Our kidney removes the uric acid via urine from our body naturally. But, due to certain factors, kidney can not remove the acid from our body properly. This, as a result, causes higher or lower level of uric acid in our body.

Complications related to Higher Uric Acid

Higher uric acid is termed as the Hyperuricemia. Due to the excess of it, various health issues take place:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Gout
  • Obesity
  • Kidney stones
  • Cognitive dysfunction
  • Kidney disease

What causes Hyperuricemia?

Causes of this problem can be diverse, such as:

  • Primary hyperuricemia, it might cause due to purine
  • Secondary hyperuricemia, it might cause due to any medical condition such as kidney disease, endocrine condition, certain cancer or effect of chemotherapy etc. Even certain medications can cause this kind of problem.

Natural Ways to treat Hyperuricemia

Following certain natural tips can keep Hyperuricemia at bay:
